Because He Lives
The questions were posed in a Canadian Coffee Shop. It could have been anywhere. Why do you Christians send missionaries to convert people? Why do you proclaim that yours is the only religion? Why don’t you just worship your god and leave everyone else alone? Where do you get the audacity to imply I’m wrong? Good questions. Is it because we Christians are better morally and ethically? Is it because we are more organized? Is it because we’re just arrogant? Or is it because we have a commission from our living Lord to “make disciples of the nations” (Matt. 28:30)? Confucius was born around 551 B.C and died in 479 B.C. Buddha was born around 557 B.C. and died in 483 B.C. Mohammed was born in 570 A.D. and died in 632 A.D. Not only is Jesus the only one without a permanent death date, but all the others establish their birth and death dates from his birth. Yesterday was Palm Sunday. Before the next Monday Morning Memo, we will celebrate the living Lord on Easter Sunday! Given opportunity, I will share, albeit with sensitivity and integrity, that which I am commissioned to share, because He lives! Join me this week?
