Make Us Take Time To…

As you read this, I will be participating in the Pastor’s Masters Golf Conference at Glorieta, New Mexico. It’s basically an excuse for Pastor’s to gather in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains for what is advertized as a time of “fellowship, spiritual encouragement, and improving your golf game.” Since I find myself in need of all three, it looks to be a great week. In “The Golfer’s Book of Wisdom”, there is a prayer from Peter Marshall (who obviously knew something about these three needs): “In the name of Jesus Christ who was never in a hurry, we pray, O God, that You will slow us down, for we know that we live too fast. With all eternity before us, make us take time to live – time to get acquainted with You, time to enjoy Your blessing, and time to get to know each other.” The Bible says it this way: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing . . .” (Rom. 15:13). May you find time this week for fellowship, spiritual encouragement and the improvement of your hobby.

Join me in prayer for these global concerns:
• For missionaries in Uganda who are seeking a way to partner with ongoing University Bible studies.
• Missionaries in Greece request prayer that their team will have discipline in all areas of their lives.
• Pray for “First Fruits,” a new ministry to young pregnant women started by a local body of believers in Cardiff, Wales.
• Pray for missionaries who are involved in food distribution in Georgia as 2000 meals a day are being given out for the next six months.
• Indian believers in the state of Orissa are asking for Christians around the world to pray for them in the midst of recent persecution.
