Lifestyle
What does it mean to live a Christian lifestyle? For the Christian, lifestyle is a way of living life with Jesus Christ at the very center. This is easier said than done. One cannot put Christ at the very center without denying self, family and close relations. Jesus issued strong warnings about putting self, family and others ahead of God. Are there guidelines that constitute a Christian lifestyle? From theologian to theologian, any “lifestyle” list would differ and would consist of various listings of rules and prohibitions found in the Bible as well as a list of positive promises. But they would all conclude with the fact that a Christian lifestyle is Christ’s life, lived out in human style. It is not Christ’s life lived out in His style for He has already accomplished that. It is not mankind’s life lived out in human style for that would be secular, perhaps even agnostic or atheist. It is His life, lived out in human style. It is perhaps best seen in Paul’s statement, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Gal. 2:20). So, live the Christ-life this week.
