What’s in a Baby’s Name?
I was named for two Baptist Pastors and the Chief of Police. My great, great Grandmother had five names. My daughter was named for a favorite aunt and me. My son was named for his two grandfathers. An international friend changed his name to Fred because when his foreign name was translated into English, his name was “Shovel.” A popular book is entitled, “40,001 Best Baby Names.” Jesus had hundreds of names and titles, four of which were given to Him several hundred years before His birth. Isaiah said, “His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6). How are you feeling during this Christmas season? Are you confused or perplexed? Jesus is a Counselor who is wonderful. Do you feel weak or powerless? Jesus is a God who is mighty. Are you feeling bound by time or space? Jesus is a Father who is everlasting. Are you stressed or anxious? Jesus is a Prince who is peaceful. What’s in a baby’s name? All that we need. Merry CHRISTmas.
Join me in praying for the following global concerns:
• Missionaries who will use the Christmas season to share Jesus Christ with friends and associates.
• Pray for Christians who continue to provide relief following a catastrophic flood which inundated half of Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou.
• Pray for missionaries, military Chaplains, and others who are away from family this Christmas.
• Pray for mission sending agencies as they close the year suffering from a depressed economy.
