Compare and Contrast

Trapped in darkness! Unsure if anyone knows; if anyone cares. Hopeless. Needing outside assistance. Then a voice, a sound, a light. Friends offer assistance, encouragement. Then an opening. Outside help. Hope. Finally someone comes to offer encouragement, instructions, assistance – a way out, a way up, a way to new possibilities. Out of the darkness, friends wait with open arms. Hugs. Kisses. Celebration. A new life begins. Is this the story of thirty-three Chilean miners trapped for 69 days in a collapsed silver mine? It could be. But it is not. It is the story of everyman. We are lost in darkness, without hope, until we are shown the Way, the Truth, the Life. He who is the Way, the Truth, the Life (John 14:6), rescues us, sets us free, gives us a new life, with new meaning, new purpose. Darkness is replaced with Light. Friends join us in celebration. Angels rejoice in heaven. Satan kicks over a burning coal in Hell.

Join me in praying for the following global concerns:
• Pray for the Novosibirsk Bible Church in Russia and the Romany Church in Prague. They both held their first worship services yesterday.
• Pray for me as I meet with pastors and church planters in metro Vancouver, Canada this week.
• Pray for many missionaries, like Trey and Elise, who are seeking to get one year visas renewed.
• Pray for Westlynn Baptist Church in North Vancouver, Canada as they search for a worship/youth leader.
