Warnings

The bumper sticker of a pick-up truck on a rural road testified to the driver’s intentions: “Due to the rising cost of ammo, do not expect a warning shot.” When you earn negative consequences, how many warnings do you think you deserve? Fortunately, for those like Paul’s readers in Colossae, teaching accompanied warning. “Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” (Colossians 1:28). “Warning” relates to repentance, to one’s conduct, and is addressed primarily to the heart. “Teaching” relates to faith, refers to doctrines, and is addressed primarily to the intellect. The Bible teaches us what to do and then warns us of the consequences of not obeying the teaching. So how are you doing today with what you have been taught? How many warnings do you deserve?
