Tracks Left Behind
“We will be known forever by the tracks we leave” said the American Indian Proverb that I read recently. As accurate as is this proverb, the idea is not original with the American Indians. Years before, it was said of Jesus, “Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps” (1 Peter 2:21). Likewise it was passed on as advice to young Timothy by the aging apostle Paul, “be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12). How are you doing with your attempt to be a good example, to leave positive tracks for others? Maybe we could use Paul’s six categories as a test. How well have you been an example this week in word? How about in conduct? What kind of steps have you left behind this week in love? How about in spirit? What tracks are there behind you this week through activities regarding faith? How about through purity? I will be forever grateful to those who went before me and left good tracks, steps I could follow. I wonder how grateful those are who are following my example . . . and yours?
Pray with me this week for the following global concerns:
• Pray for missionaries around the globe as they use the Advent season to explain Christ to people who do not yet know Him personally.
• Intercede for a Christmas outreach in the Prague area that will include distributing fruit, candy, small gifts, and wood for heating.
• Pray for the Hope Clinic in Macau during a time of transition. By the end of the year, the clinic expects to lose around 50% of their doctors.
• Pray for Johnny & Nita as Nita seeks to get her Canadian nursing certification so they can move to Vancouver and begin ministry in early 2013.
