Rewind and Replay

What is there in your past you’ve give everything to re-live again? The country song tells of a young rodeo cowboy who longs to be able to ride for eight seconds and make it all the way to the national finals rodeo in Las Vegas. The song ends with the man, now grown old, dreaming of his four world championships and affirming that, “he’d trade it all today for one ride in Vegas.” When I was young, my Dad used lots of film on my brother and me. When we watched the film, there were certain scenes that we loved to rewind and replay, over and over again. I’m not sure what I’d be willing to give, but there are certain scenes from my past that I’d sure enjoy re-living again. Jesus was perfect, but I wonder if in his early morning quite times he ever thought about His past and longed to relive some special experience. We know that the Apostle Paul grieved over his wasted years (Gal. 1:13) but I wonder if he ever wanted to relive any experience in his post-conversion years? Surely Peter regretted some of his early actions, but did he ever think of reliving any of his high spiritual moments? John had a lot of free time on Patmos. I wonder if he spent any of it wishing he could relive some pre-exile experience. How about you?

Join me this week in praying for the following global concerns:
• Pray for Joe and his co-workers as they cycle through towns and villages in western Slovenia, distributing literature to every home.
• Remember November 1 is celebrated in many countries as the Day of the Dead. Pray for missionaries who serve in these countries.
• Give thanks that Lori made it all the way back to Mali without difficulty and pray for her new term of service.
• Pray for the four nights of Euro Event 2013 on Nov. 4, 6, 12, 14 in Georgia, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
