Honored with Honors

It seems like only a few nights ago, I was honored to take my young granddaughter, Whitney, to the Father/Daughter Banquet at our church. I remember it well. She was wearing her Strawberry Shortcake dress with the ever-present bow in her hair. I must have taken a Rip Van Winkle type nap, because last Saturday, Whitney graduated from college – with honors. Where did those years go – years filled with so much fun and meaning – yet so quickly gone? I really want to seize the day – or Carpe diem, as stated in 23BC by the poet, Horace, yet I fear that I may doze off again and who knows what will be there when I awake? So I look back with fond memories while time moves forward with furious speed. Time is good. It is what God created on the first day of the creative process (Genesis 1:3-5). Managing time is what is so difficult. Author, speaker, and pastor, John Maxwell stated, “Time management is an oxymoron. Time is beyond our control, and the clock keeps ticking regardless of how we lead our lives. Priority management is the answer to maximizing the time we have.” So my priority is to seize the day and be honored with honors.

Join me today in praying for the following global requests:
• Pray for Jim & Charlotte in their last month before going on stateside assignment for a year that they will finish well what they have been doing in Brazil.
• Pray for Melissa and Jonathan as they endure the intense heat of South Asia.
• Pray for spiritual eyes for those of us participating in a Vision Tour of metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island this week.
• Pray for the 15 people preparing to be baptized at Macau Baptist Church in June.
