Powerless or Power-full?

Last week I wrote of saying “Yes” to every invitation and thus occasionally overcrowding my calendar. This is such a time. In fact when you receive this, I will be leading a city-wide prayer conference in Rio Grande City, Texas. I love the Rio Grande Valley, and the cities up the river. We lived there for six years early in my ministry. But due to an arthritis flare up, and the medication for such, I was running low on energy as this conference approached. No sooner do I complete this conference than I lead a Senior Adult Bible Study at another church, then I’m off to Washington D.C. for the semi-annual meeting of America’s National Prayer Committee, and the National Day of Prayer activities. In the midst of planning for this flurry of calendar events, I received Deuteronomy 8:18 from one of my Internet Bible Reading programs, “Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power.” Then I remembered Colossians 1:29, which I memorized years ago from The Living Bible, “This is my work, and I can do it only because Christ’s mighty energy is at work within me.” Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.” I’m not sure what lay inside of Emerson, but I know what lies inside of me. How about you?
