Scripture Memorized and Remembered
I was feeling unusually tired that morning. Maybe it was my age – since it was my birthday month. Maybe is was the fact that I had been especially busy in the preceding days. Whatever the cause, I was tired and I had a speaking assignment that day and a few miles to travel before the event. That’s when I remembered a verse of scripture that I had memorized many years ago from The Living Bible – “This is my work, and I can do it only because Christ’s mighty energy is at work within me” (Colossians 1:29). The remembrance of that verse helped me make it though the day. There is great value in memorizing scripture, especially in the younger years. Jesus promised, “the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” (John 14:26). So file God’s Word away in the computer bank of your memory while you can, so that when you need it, God can call it back to your memory.
