Team Ministry vs. Individual Ministry
As I was preparing for the second session of training for young pastors as a part of the Valley Baptist Missions Education Center, I was reminded of how much we need each other. Ministry is both difficult and demanding. A support group is an absolute necessity. Hymn writer and author, Helen Keller, said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Ken Blanchard, who published over sixty books, including “The One Minute Manager,” said, “None of us is as smart as all of us.” Using plural words, “we,” “us,” and “our,” the writer of Hebrews wrote, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Consider who is on your team this week. Thank them and make them better. To God be the glory.
