Walls
I got to see the famous U.S./Mexico border wall last week, actually, had my picture made standing by a gate. I was looking for a Mexican man, whose picture I had seen on a poster carrying a ladder toward the wall. The caption on the picture said, “$5 ladder; $15 billion wall.” I joked about Mexicans pole vaulting over the wall, and my friend, who was taking us on the tour, informed me that young Mexicans had been observed carrying ropes to the wall, complete with a hook on one end. They would throw the hook until it caught on the top of the wall, then it would take them a mere seventeen seconds to scale the wall and arrive on U.S. soil. I am reminded that heaven is described as being surrounded by “a great and high wall” (Revelation 21:12). I am so glad that my entry into that forever place is guaranteed. The Bible says, “Its gates shall not be shut at all” (Revelation 21;15), meaning, I do not have to find a creative way to maneuver the heavenly wall.
