When the Queen met the King
On the day of the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II, one of her quotes was shared by the media: “Grief is the price we pay for love.” There is a lot of truth in that statement. For believers, however, grief is not because we’ve lost someone. We know exactly where they are. Grief is because we will, for a time, be separated from them – days, weeks, months, perhaps years. They feel no such grief. The Bible repeatedly assures us that there is no night in heaven, but one eternal day (Revelation 21:25; 22:5) So for the departed, the separation will be different. For them – with no night in heaven – we will arrive and be reunited later today. One other observation – The crown on the casket of Queen Elizabeth II contained 2,868 diamonds, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, 269 pearls, and four rubies. It did not accompany her upon her arrival in heaven, but rather it was replaced with a “crown of glory that does not fade away”(1 Peter 5:4). The Queen has met the King.
