Monday Morning Manna, Monday Afternoon Phone Call

When I wrote last Monday’s Morning Manna about Thanksgiving, I did not know about the Monday afternoon phone call.  The Nurse on the other end of the line said, “We need to talk with you about your surgical procedure scheduled for in the morning at 7am.”  What? Back in the summer, when I first began scoring high on some heart tests, I visited with a Cardiologist, and he mentioned an Angiogram as a possibility in the future. and we even set a possible date for it.  Then my wife, Joanne had a spell with her heart on one of our Rio Grande Valley trips, followed by her Brownwood Ambulance ride and hours spent in the Hospital ER, with the AFib diagnosis.  At that point I told my Cardiologist to cancel all my procedures, and let’s get Joanne straightened out. Well, Joanne’s heart returned to proper rhythm, and at the last meeting with our Cardiologist, I told him. now that she was OK, let’s get back to me.  Then came the surprise phone call.  So, I’ve now had the Angiogram.  No artery was found to have the minimum 70% blockage required for further attention.  No stints were needed or installed.  Powerful prescription medication was begun, with very uncomfortable side effects, but I’m  on the way back to health, as is Joanne.  In fact, I told God just the other day, “You have put gladness in my heart” (Psalm 4:7).
