Birthday Week

This is my birthday week.  Lots of free and discounted meals.  Can’t believe I lived this long.  Outlived all of my family except a few younger cousins. For several years I’ve said I’m ready to go whenever God is finished with me on earth.  Apparently, God is not finished with me yet.  Either that or my heavenly mansion is not yet ready for occupancy.  Meanwhile, here are ten of my favorite birthday quotes plus my latest life-verse:

  • “Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be, the last of life, for which the first was made.” — Robert Browning
  • “Eventually you reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.” — Will Rogers
  • “You know you’re getting old when you get that one candle on the cake.” — Jerry Seinfeld
  • “Just remember, once you’re over the hill you begin to pick up speed.” — Charles Schulz
  • “You know you’re getting old when the candles cost more than the cake.” — Bob Hope
  • “The older you get the better you get, unless you are a banana.” — Betty White
  • “How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?” — Satchel Paige
  • “Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.” – Walt Disney
  • “The best tunes are played on the oldest fiddles.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
  • “Wisdom is found with the elderly, and understanding comes with long life.” – Job 12:12, CSB

And my latest life-verse – “O God, You have taught me from my youth; and to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.” – Psalm 71:17-18.
