The Outer Man and Modern Medicine

My mother had Macular Degeneration and other eye issues.  Nothing could be done to correct it. In her later years, she was unable to look at us directly but rather had to tilt her head to see us.  A few weeks ago, I had an unexpected blur in my left eye and went directly to see my Optometrist who discovered a cataract and referred me to a Cataract Surgeon who further discovered Cataracts in both eyes as well as Macular Degeneration, and a bleeding retina in the left eye.  I was referred to Retina Surgeon who began a series of injections in the eye.  After three monthly injections, I had Cataract Surgery, left eye one week, and the right the following week. I am still in the care of both Surgeons, with various limitations.  All the while I have been wishing my mother had been able to have such treatment.  Modern methods of eye care (as well as care for other parts of the body) are nothing short of miraculous and I am greatly appreciative.  After four months of various treatments, I feel renewed and ready for whatever is next.  The Bible is correct,  “Our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16).  Thank God for the miracles of modern medicine.
