Shared Prayer and Soggy Cereal
Recently, I posted my Monday Morning Manna on social media, poured milk on my breakfast cereal and sat down to eat. The phone rang. It was a long-time, great friend. (Who else would call before breakfast?) It seems my Manna post has popped up on his computer just as he and his wife began their morning prayer time and he took advantage to call me and invite me to join their prayer time. I did so. (Who would say “no” to a long-time, great friend who called before breakfast?). Even though I had already had my morning prayer time, it was a meaningful fifteen minutes as I listened to my friend go down a long list of people and events for whom he and his wife were praying. So, I was blessed by joining in their prayer time. When we share in the blessings of prayer, we increase our blessing in prayer. After the Amen, we discussed a couple of names that were on his prayer list, and hung up, thinking the only thing better than early morning prayer is early morning prayer with friends. After all, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor: (Ecclesiastes 4:9). Then I realized the group prayer time had lasted so long, my breakfast cereal had become soggy. I probably should not admit this, but soggy cereal may not be worth early morning shared prayer time. Solution: don’t post anything on social media until after you have had your breakfast cereal. Then you can pray with friends and still eat fresh cereal.
