It took most of the week to process last Monday\u2019s news. A summer biopsy showed a small skin cancer on my right temple. MOHS Surgery (that had twice before been 100% successful for me) was, this time, unsuccessful. Seems a part of the cancer had wrapped itself around a nerve. To expedite healing I was sent for Plastic Surgery, then to the Oncologist for radiation treatment. I was totally unprepared to hear that I would have treatments five days per week for the next six weeks, ending the day before Thanksgiving. Engagements had to be cancelled. Other than Sunday events, my calendar had to be cleared. Five days a week, for six weeks \u2013 with no guarantee that the radiation would kill all the cancer cells, all the while experiencing heavy co-pays, since the Seminary cancelled its participation in retiree health insurance. It was almost too much to process, but as I sat in the Oncology waiting room, thinking about all the days and dollars till Thanksgiving, I realized how thankful I was. Names were called and people with much more involved cancer, went through doors to more extensive treatment than I was enduring. My cancer was, at least for now, skin cancer. Then this verse came rushing out of past experiences, \u201cWe know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose\u201d (Romans 8:28). I ended a long, confusing week knowing, God\u2019s got this!<\/p>\n

\n\u2022 Pray for missionaries attending European leadership meetings in Prague, Oct. 21-24. Imagine walking down a street in a neighborhood with 100 homes with 1 person living in each house. If you are in Europe, that means you will encounter only 1 believer in that entire community, since 99% of Europeans don\u2019t have a personal relationship with Christ.
