Your early morning prayer is for God’s direction through the day, then your car won’t start so it must be God’s fault. It may also be your fault for not attending to the battery light for several days. You ask God for directions as a major event approaches then you get sick just before it happens so it must be God’s fault. It may also be your fault for not taking preventative steps when the first symptoms occurred. You ask God to direct your relationships then someone offends you so it must be God’s fault. It may also be your fault for not properly nurturing the relationship. The illustrations are numerous. Why do we so often blame God when it might be our own fault? Perhaps we have inherited this fault from our forefathers. God was leading Israel, but Israel has chosen another path, and so produced sorrow upon sorrow. The cause of the problems is brought to light in Jeremiah 2:17, “Have you not brought this on yourself, in that you have forsaken the Lord your God when He led you in the way?” The “way” here is scarcely the literal path through the wilderness, but rather the true way of life, much like our daily “way” of life. Your remedy? Keep asking for divine direction; do not forsake God when things don’t go your way.

Join me in interceding for the following global concerns:
• Pray for Patsy and Michael as they leave Russia for a brief assignment time in the U.S.
• Give thanks for 72 kids who attended the Upward Basketball Camp of Canvas Church on Vancouver Island, Canada and pray for follow up activities.
• Pray for three English-speaking churches the Netherlands that are seeking a pastor Eindhoven, Hoensbroek, and Leidschendam.
• Plautdietsch, a German-based language and people group living in Mexico, has a population of over 50,000.
