{"id":1762,"date":"2017-07-24T16:11:39","date_gmt":"2017-07-24T21:11:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/discipleallnations.org\/members\/?p=1762"},"modified":"2018-01-02T16:36:03","modified_gmt":"2018-01-02T22:36:03","slug":"going-home-again-not-so-bad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/discipleallnations.org\/members\/2017\/07\/going-home-again-not-so-bad\/","title":{"rendered":"Going Home Again \u2013 Not so Bad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever returned to a place that was once home, only to be surprised as to how much it had changed? I did so recently (I have twelve cities that I have called home for a time). Proud of the progress, I was likewise sad that much of the old was either gone or in disrepair. Very few friends were still there. It made me think of the words of the country song that says, \u201cEveryone around here now\u2019s a stranger. They don\u2019t know they walk on sacred ground. They can\u2019t see what I can see \u2013these apparition memories still talking, still walking around.\u201d One day Jesus went back to his hometown of Nazareth where some had heard about Him and, \u201cthey were offended at Him\u201d (Mark 6:3). I\u2019m sure Jesus was disappointed more than once in His public ministry, but surely this was a huge disappointment, to be rejected in His hometown. I wasn\u2019t rejected on my recent trip back in time, and neither will you likely be rejected with similar trips. However, it shows us how much more Jesus suffered, on our behalf. Indeed, He was \u201cdespised and rejected by men\u201d (Isaiah 53:3).
