As much as we would like to change things, some things are just unchangeably real, and there\u2019s not much we can do about it. Even while society changes, human nature does not change. Reality is real. Hanging on my wall as I grew through my teen-age years, was a plaque containing the words of American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, entitled \u201cThe Serenity Prayer\u201d \u2013 \u201cGod, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.\u201d More recently, I have come across a line from American Author Byron Katie, \u201cIf you want reality to be different than it is, you might as well try to teach a cat to bark.\u201d I have prayed Niebuhr\u2019s prayer again this week and decided to cease trying to teach cats to bark.
