To say that in a popular way, \u201cIt is what it is.\u201d Jesus does not change. The writer of Hebrews proclaims, \u201cJesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever\u201d (Hebrews 13:8). Even while society changes, human nature does not change. Reality is real. Hanging on my wall as I grew through my teen-age years, was a plaque containing the words of American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, entitled \u201cThe Serenity Prayer\u201d \u2013 \u201cGod, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.\u201d More recently, I have come across a line from American Author Byron Katie, \u201cIf you want reality to be different than it is, you might as well try to teach a cat to bark.\u201d I have prayed Niebuhr\u2019s prayer again this week and decided to cease trying to teach cats to bark.
