Last Monday, my Morning Manna was about our terminology of saying Jesus was in our heart vs. Him being in our life. One of the responses was from my friend Judy, who further spoke of the \u201cheart\u201d issue when she wrote, \u201cWhen my younger daughter was 3, she asked where God is. “Everywhere.” “Even in me?” “Yes, even in you.” “Is he stuck in there?” \u00a0Shortly after I wrote that article, my great-grandson asked his mother where Jesus was.\u00a0\u00a0When he was told that Jesus lives in our hearts, his response was, \u201cWell, I\u2019m going to let Jesus out.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Not bad theology for a three-year old.\u00a0\u00a0After all, since Jesus came to live and die for all persons, it would be rather selfish, at least in the mind of three-year olds, for Jesus to be \u201cstuck\u201d in a heart, or for us to keep Him confined in there. So, \u201cLet Him out,\u201d makes sense. Frankly, I\u2019m not sure how well that thinking would work in a Seminary-level Systematic Theology class, but it would be worth observing.\u00a0\u00a0It might find better response in an Evangelism class.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus Himself said, \u201cAnd\u00a0I,\u00a0if\u00a0I\u00a0am\u00a0lifted\u00a0up\u00a0from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself\u201d (John 12:32).\u00a0\u00a0Might He have said, \u201cIf I be let out (of where I appear to be stuck), I will draw all peoples to Myself?\u201d Let Him out!<\/p>\n
