Ever wish you were like someone else?\u00a0\u00a0I am healing from my tenth MOHS (skin cancer) surgery, this one on my forehead, right between the eyes.\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019ve had others on both sides of my face and on my nose, even one on my temple. accompanied by six weeks of radiation.\u00a0\u00a0I asked the Surgeon why.\u00a0\u00a0His answer was simple – \u201cfair skin and Texas resident.\u201d I tried to blame it on my mother, remembering her words, \u201cGo outside!\u00a0\u00a0Take off your shirt!\u00a0\u00a0Get some sun!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0It wasn\u2019t her fault. She was only offering advice based on her training as a Registered Nurse.\u00a0\u00a0She knew I needed the Vitamin D provided by the sun.\u00a0\u00a0My Surgeon further took my mother off the hook, by adding, \u201cYou can go to the mall, park on the edge of the parking lot, walk across the lot into the air-conditioned buildings, and if you\u2019re not wearing a hat, you\u2019ll get skin cancer as you walk.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0So, I\u2019ve given up golf, daytime sports events, trips to the beach, yard work (thank you, Jesus), and trips to the mall, replacing all of this with multiple micrograms (mcg) of vitamin D3.\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019m just a Jacob, wishing I was an Esau (Genesis 27:11).<\/p>\n
