The\u201d Pomp and Circumstance\u201d sounded the same but everything else was different.\u00a0 It was a Kindergarten Graduation, and we were there to celebrate one of the graduates \u2013 our great-grandson, Crawford Graham Kennedy.\u00a0 The highlight of the service was when each graduate walked across the stage to receive their diploma as their teacher introduced\u00a0 them with \u201cThis is . . . . .\u00a0 when they grow up, they want to be a\u00a0 . . . . .\u00a0 They are looking forward to first grade when they will . . . .\u201d\u00a0 The introductions sounded similar. They wanted to be teachers, firemen, doctors. etc. and when they arrived in first grade, they wanted to learn cursive, get taller, make new friends, etc. Then came our great-grandson.\u00a0 \u201cThis is Crawford.\u00a0 When he grows up, he wants to be a Monster Truck Driver.\u00a0 Prior to this announcement the mostly red-neck audience had been rather quiet, with an occasional approving groan at the repetition of answers. But now there was applause, whistles, and a few cheers.\u00a0 Crawford had identified with his audience. As if this were not enough, the teacher continued, \u201cAnd when he gets to first grade, he is looking forward to learning more about dinosaurs\u201d\u00a0 More applause. Not surprising that his favorite verse in the Bible is Joshua 1:9, \u201cBe strong and of good courage;\u00a0do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.\u201d\u00a0 The only way we could possibly be prouder of Crawford, is to live long enough to see where all God leads him, and of course, attend a Moster Truck Jam with him as one of the drivers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
