Ice, Sleet. Snow. Homebound.\u00a0 These are words that describe my last few days.\u00a0 Add \u201dRecord Low Temperature\u201d and you get cancelled basketball games, cancelled church services, cancelled meetings, etc. You also get friends from the frozen north lands, from the \u201ctrue north, strong and free\u201d calling you a \u201cWimp\u201d and other such names.\u00a0 But, save for a few years in the deep south of Geogia, where they boil their peanuts and Bar B.Q. the wrong animal, and sabbatical leaves spent in colder climes, In the words of John Baumann, \u201cI\u2019m Texas born, Texas bred. When I die, I\u2019ll be Texas dead.\u201d So, what does one do when facing these conditions?\u00a0 Read. Write. Watch TV. \u00a0Work on sermons and teaching notes.\u00a0 Adjust prayer lists.\u00a0 Spend way too much time on social media. Catch up on sleep.
