She gave me good advice that ranged well beyond the subject of our discussion.\u00a0 A few weeks ago, I was facing cataract surgery in both eyes and had listened to the various possibilities including a lens replacement solution that went several thousand dollars beyond the coverage of Medicare. Needing advice, I turned to my Optometrist of many years.\u00a0 The advice I received was, \u201cJust because something cost more, does not mean it is better.\u201d\u00a0 I quickly made mental applications to other areas of life \u2013 purchasing an expensive vehicle only to find the cost of repairs to be extremely high, or paying a high price for a seat at an athletic event only to find it was a partially obstructed view, or buying a expensive shirt only to find it was a size smaller after the first washing. \u00a0Paying more might mean different or more popular, but not necessarily better. \u00a0So, I went with the basic, Medicare covered, lens replacement, saved lots of money, and learned a life-lesson.\u00a0 Need some advice?\u00a0 Go to amazon.com and check out my latest book, \u201cDon\u2019t Die on Third: Advice for Daily Living.\u201d Hopefully, having read it, you can say as I said to my Optometrist and as David said to Abigail, \u201cBlessed is your advice\u201d \u00a0(1 Samuel 25:33).<\/p>\n
