A lot of people are listening for a sound and not looking for a shepherd. Preaching is from the mouth. Pastoring is from the heart. Dennis Hall

A pastor is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. John C. Maxwell

Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth. John Wesley

Any church may have a mighty man of God for its pastor, if it is willing to pay the price, and that price is not a big salary, but great praying. A. Torrey

When a pastor is led by what people demand of them and not what God demands of them a shepherd turns into a wolf. John M Sheehan

You can be a prophet, a teacher, a pastor… but without a prayer life, you will eventually dry up. Nicholas Duncan Williams

He Himself gave some to be . . .pastors and teachers, for the equipping pf the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
