Like many of you I lost money in the last few weeks as the stock market dropped. To be quite honest, I lost a lot of retirement money. In fact, I lost so much, I may need to un-retire. In the midst of my depression, God gave me a passage of scripture from the Sermon on the Mount. Actually, I am presently preaching through this sermon of our Lord and I was working on this text. \u201cTherefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble\u201d (Matthew 6:34) I remembered the advice of a friend in a similar concern in past years. He simply said to me, \u201cWait to worry!\u201d That\u2019s the short version of what Jesus said. After all, worry does not lessen tomorrow\u2019s troubles; it only lessens today\u2019s energy. Whether you lost money recently or face some other concern, you\u2019re welcome to claim this passage with me and join me in waiting to worry.<\/p>\n
