We stood at the very back of the magnificent Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City while a tour host dropped a pin on the platform. In the silence and the semi-darkness, we clearly heard the sound of the pin hitting the floor. Such are the amazing acoustics of the Tabernacle. For four hundred years there had been silence. It\u2019s called the inter-biblical period, the time between the Old Testament and The New Testament. It was a time when no prophet spoke, no preacher preached, no writer wrote. It was a time of dark quietness. Then God dropped a pin. It was the birth of a baby in a quiet place, in a semi-dark manger, on a silent night. Such were God\u2019s acoustics, that all mankind eventually heard the angelic announcement of the birth of the long-awaited Messiah, the world\u2019s Savior. It was as Isaiah had prophesied, \u201cThe people who walked in darkness have seen a great light\u201d (Isa. 9:2). As the years have gone by that Light, that Good News, has been allowed to grow dim and quiet. Many people ignore it for eleven months out of the year then in December, they respond once again to the good news of a baby\u2019s birth. Now, once again, we enter the Christmas season, when we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus and once again much of the human race pauses in an attempt to be human again. Celebrate the season and the Savior it serves.<\/p>\n
