Two weeks ago I asked in this Memo, \u201cWhat Would Jesus Do with Facebook?\u201d Among the most interesting replies were the following:
\n\u2022 I\u2019m curious as to how many people would actually add Jesus as a friend?
\n\u2022 What would Jesus do? He would use it to publish his travel itinerary so people would know where they could come for help and healing. He would post a blog about how much he loves every individual. He would use it to post testimonials about how God changes lives. He would issue a worldwide invitation to receive forgiveness and eternal life.
\n\u2022 I think Luke 5:4 might tell us what Jesus would do with Facebook and other internet opportunities. He says to \u201cLAUNCH . . . and use your NET for a great catch.\u201d<\/p>\n
I\u2019m convinced that Jesus would do, as He always has done, that is, use whatever means and methods available to communicate God\u2019s love and the offer for forgiveness and redemption to all who call upon His name in repentance and for salvation. But He would never worship the method over His Father, who gave to mankind the creative ability to create multiple methods of communication. Therein is one of our modern sins \u2013 worshipping the created over the Creator. Meanwhile, I\u2019m adding Facebook \u201cfriends\u201d daily and thoroughly enjoying the renewal of long-ago friendships and the deepening of new friendships. Enjoy it while it\u2019s popular. Some university sophomore is right now sitting in his or her dorm room inventing the next method of communication.<\/p>\n
