\u201cThanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow.\u201d So wrote Edward Sandford Martin, founder of the \u201cHarvard Lampoon.\u201d It is Thanksgiving Week in the U.S. – a time of remembrance with gratitude. Short memory makes thanksgiving difficult. Good memory makes thanksgiving inevitable. Many are expressing their thankfulness on Facebook by stating one remembrance each day for which they are thankful. My lack of involvement in that activity is not a reflection of un-thankfulness. Rather I have had a pattern for many years of specifically expressing thanks to a few individuals each year. This year I am especially thankful to Frank Shearer for hosting my web site and assisting me in producing \u201cDr. Dan\u2019s Monday Morning Memo\u201d each week. Then I am thankful to the 300+ who subscribe to the Memo via e-mail and to the almost 1000 who receive it weekly via Facebook. I\u2019m not sure how many people actually read the Memo since one address may affect several readers, but I am thankful for the ability to share a brief spiritual jump start each Monday and inspire a few global prayer concerns. So, to my readers, on this Thanksgiving week of 2009 – \u201cI thank my God upon every remembrance of you\u201d (Phil. 1:3).<\/p>\n
