In most circumstances, one out of ten is not very good. A student who answers one question correctly out of ten will fail the test. A quarterback who completes one pass out of ten is most likely on the losing team. A salesperson who completes one sale out of ten good prospects may need a second income. A church member who attends only one Sunday out of ten is not considered a faithful member. Jesus experienced this unwanted ratio on at least one occasion. In Luke 17:11-19, ten lepers cried out to him for healing. Cries offered to Jesus were never unheeded, nor are they today. Jesus healed them and sent on their way. Only one returned to express thanks. The other nine went merrily and ungratefully on their way. It seems the thankful are often in the minority. Last Thursday, we observed Thanksgiving Day. Were you a part of the thankful minority or the ungrateful majority?<\/p>\n
