In his attempt to convince the graduates that there was more to life than attaining an academic degree the commencement speaker quoted a tombstone inscription, \u201cHere lies Flow. G.P.A. 4.0.\u201d After congratulating the graduates with high Grade Point Averages, the speaker shared how tragic it would be to get to the end of life with nothing more to show than a high G.P.A. He was right on target! The fact, that within a year, most graduates do not remember what their commencement speaker said is beside the point. Until the day we die and some meaningful inscription is carved on our tombstone, there is still more to life. Edwin Louis Cole, founder of the Christian Men\u2019s Network, wrote a book entitled, \u201cNever Quit\u201d with a subtitle, \u201cWinners are not those who never fail but those who never quit.\u201dSo persevere. Keep on keeping on. Whatever tribulation comes your way this week, remember the words of the Apostle Paul, \u201cTribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character hope\u201d (Rom. 5:3). A 4.0 is not bad, neither is a perfect personality, or a successful career, unless you quit before the finish line.<\/p>\n
