This week, I saw a golfer hold up his putter and dangle it downward, lining up a putt. The announcer described it as a \u201cGolfer\u2019s plumb line.\u201d The plumb line, is an instrument that has been used since at least the time of ancient Egypt to ensure that constructions are \u201cplumb\u201d, or vertical. It is usually a string with a weight, providing a vertical reference line. For the golfer it helps determine the break of the green. In the days of Amos the prophet, The Lord used a \u201cplumb line,\u201d to determine how upright His people were, saying to Amos, \u201cBehold, I am setting a plumb line in the midst of My people\u201d (Amos 7:8). God still uses a plumb line today. Neither how upright we think we are, nor how upright others think we are, means anything to God. He is only interested in how upright we are measured by His standards of measurement. If God were to set His plumb line of measurement next to you, how would you measure up?<\/p>\n
