Answering the doorbell, I was greeted by total strangers who offered to give me some printed material about their beliefs. When I respectfully declined, they asked if they could come in and talk with me about what they believed. When I again declined, they asked if they could make an appointment to return at a more convenient time to talk with me. Three strikes and you\u2019re out. Shouldn\u2019t I have invited them in for the purpose of sharing my beliefs with them? Wasn\u2019t this a perfect opportunity for spiritual dialogue? Maybe, but not when they made their fourth offer by assuring me that my neighbors had invited them into their houses for the purpose of sharing \u201ctruth.\u201d I believe in sharing my faith with my neighbors and beyond. What I don\u2019t believe in is allowing some from another belief system to assure my neighbors that I am open to their version of \u201ctruth.\u201d I firmly believe Jesus Christ is the only way to \u201ctruth.\u201d That\u2019s what He said, \u201cI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me\u201d (John 14:6). Concerning \u201cthe doctrine of Christ\u201d the apostle John wrote, \u201cIf anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive them into your house nor greet him\u201d (2 John 10). Tough call! What would you do?<\/p>\n
