Money Answers Everything or Does It?

Much recent news has been about money: stocks, bonds, the Dow, market failure, foreclosures, and bankruptcies. Few have avoided the aftereffects of the financial news. The times make Ecclesiastes 10:19 seem truer than ever: “Money answers everything.” Money is not particular about which master it serves, answering the call of both good and bad. It can render amazing service to any cause or cause incalculable damage. Every type of sin known to mankind has been committed for money. On the other hand, money has built churches, schools, hospitals, orphanages and every missionary enterprise in history has been funded by it. Money can cause the dessert to blossom or music to sound like discord. Whether money is an asset or a liability depends on one’s attitude toward it. If one acquires money dishonestly, spends it improperly, or hoards it stingily, it becomes a curse. On the other hand, if one sees it as a gift from God and uses it accordingly, it is a blessing. So whether you and I have more money than we need or less than we want, may we be thankful this week for what we have and use it to the glory of God.

Would you join me this week in praying for these global concerns?
• Global missionaries who invite friends into their homes this week for an American Thanksgiving and use the opportunity to share a witness for Christ.
• Give thanks this Thanksgiving for God’s protection over thousands of missionaries living in difficult circumstances, some in very dangerous environments.
• Pray for the ministry during the Pacific School Games, being held in Australia on Nov 28th-Dec.8th.
