Things Which Cannot be Shaken
I had a difficult time switching from CNN last week as the terrorist attack on Mombai continued. Having ministered briefly in India and having former students presently serving in India, my interest level was high. All the good descriptive adjectives were used early and all I could think about were questions. How did we get here? What has happened to our world? What does the future hold? In the midst of one of the hotel explosions, I remembered a biblical promise of “things which cannot be shaken” (Hebrews 12:27). Terrorism will continue, at least as long as there are people willing to die for their cause. But so will the unshaken promise and presence of our God. I invite you to join me this week in taking comfort in this promise.
And then join me in remembering these global concerns:
• Pray for mission personnel who serve in Mombai, India.
• Pray for those who will minister in the aftermath of the Mombai terrorist attacks.
• Pray for all of those who will now deal with post traumatic stress.
• Missionaries in Japan write that some days it seems there is not enough energy and time to complete all that they need to do. They ask for prayer wisdom to discern what is necessary and what is not.
• Give thanks for the safe arrival last Wednesday of bush baby Abigail, to Uganda missionary parents Lew and Brandi.
