Got Your Back

“I’ve got your back” is a popular way of assuring someone that you are watching out for them. According to “The Urban Dictionary” the phrase comes from making sure you are safe by watching what’s behind you when you’re busy looking ahead. Isaiah knew who had his back. “Your ears shall hear a word behind you saying ‘This is the way, walk in it’” (Isaiah 30:21). The emphasis is on the preposition. When you hear God’s words directing you to God’s way, you walk in that way, not around it, not past it, not over it, not under it, not avoiding it, not ignoring it. As you walk in God’s way, you walk guarded, equipped, challenged, and protected – even from your back. So walk boldly this week!

Join me this week in praying for these global concerns:
• Pray for Karl and Julie as they prepare to leave Serbia for a one-year state-side assignment.
• Pray for Jewish friends who observe Passover from April 8–16.
• Pray for the volunteer team from Arkansas as they serve in Honduras, April 11-18.
• Pray for missionaries in Moldova where there was rioting last week following elections where the Communist Party won the majority of votes to gain control of the Parliament.
• Pray for ongoing relief work in L’Aquila, Italy, after an April 6 earthquake killed more than 200 people and left 100,000 homeless.
