God’s Heart-beat

Various sources tell us that a normal heart beat is between 60 to 100 beats per minute. When the heart beats faster it tells us we are excited; slower and we are relaxed. What does the heart-beat of God tell us? One day, a disciple of Jesus was, “leaning on Jesus’ bosom” (John 13:23). This disciple, “whom Jesus loved” was most likely John, the same disciple who wrote so much about God’s love. He laid his head on the heart of God. What an enviable position. How often I long to hear the heart of God and yet how often I simply hear distracting noise, unable to turn down the volume around me. For instance, I’ve read this passage many times. It is about Peter asking Jesus which disciple will betray Him. Right? Well, mostly right! Until now, I’ve missed this ear-to-the-heart-of-God portion of the passage. We are allowed, as was a young Jew, to recline on the bosom of our Lord and listen to the heartbeat of our God. I’m going to try that this week. Join me?

One thing I know for sure, God’s heart beats for the nations, the peoples of the earth. So, join me in interceding for the following global requests:
• Pray for Boyd and Jennie as they lead in the ministry to the Roma of Europe.
• Pray for the Western Europe regional conference meeting this week in Bavaria.
• Pray for those who work in the Hope Clinic in Macau especially in August, which is Ghost month in Macau.
• Pray for Mark as he leads a Youth Camp in England this week for sixty teen-agers.
• Pray for churches and individuals to partner with missionaries in the Republic of Georgia.
• Pray for Johnny, who serves in a highly secure area, to regain his hearing.
• Give thanks that 1000 Nomaande New Testaments safely reached the capital city of Yaounde and will soon be distributed in Cameroon.
