The Priority of a Good Start
Breakfast is widely acknowledged as the most important meal of the day. I like it so much I sometimes eat breakfast food for lunch and even dinner. One morning, Jesus invited His disciples to join Him for a breakfast of fish and bread, cooked over open coals on the shore of the Sea of Tiberias (John 21:12). So perfectly prepared was this meal that no one complained of having no catsup or tartar sauce. Only ten times did Jesus appear between His resurrection and His ascension, yet one appearance was reserved for breakfast, the morning meal, an absolute necessity for a healthy day. No doubt the Lord had been up early praying, as was His custom, modeling for His disciples how to get a good spiritual start to the day. Now He teaches them how to get a good physical start to the day. May we be likewise balanced as we begin each day.
Join me in remembering these global prayer concerns before the Father:
• Pray for those who minister among the 2.6 million Turks in Germany.
• Celebrate with those who serve in the Ukraine as six believers were baptized into the Body of Christ, including the first person baptized into the Gorizont Church plant.
• Pray for rain in Uganda and in neighboring Kenya! This can be an urgent matter of life and death for people who rely on farming to survive.
• Continue to pray for those who minister to Muslims during the month of Ramadan (August 22-Sept 20).
• Pray for Amy and Nathan as they move to Vancouver, Canada to start a church in the inner city core.
