Imploding or Not Imploding?
Texas Stadium fell at 7:08 a.m. yesterday, in an implosion lasting less than one minute, triggered by a series of 55 detonations a half-second apart. I watched it on TV, the same way I had watched hundreds of Dallas Cowboy football games over the years. Most of the games were on Sunday and I was busy, but I did see a few in the Stadium and treasure wonderful memories of those games and who I was with when I watched them. But, as of yesterday, the stadium is gone. Only two things remain forever. The Bible says, ‘The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever” (Isa. 40:8). Second, and implied throughout the Bible, the souls of men live forever. I have spent a lot of money and time watching athletic events like those played by the Dallas Cowboys in Texas Stadium, but I have chosen to invest my life in things eternal, things that do not implode. How about you?
Join me in praying for these global concerns:
• The citizens of Poland and those who minister to them in the loss of national leaders.
• Pray for the city officials in Kladno near Prague in the Czech Republic as they consider the donation of a building for Bib. studies and activities.
• Pray for an upcoming conference in Krakow, Poland for workers from over Europe, who minister among Jewish people.
• Pray for those who go daily to the banks of the Ganges River to bathe in hopes of washing away their sins and for my former students who minister to them.
