Reunion Anxiety
There’s a lot of anxiety involved in attending a reunion. This coming weekend is my 50th High School class reunion. I’m anxious that others will have changed so much they might not recognize me. I’m anxious someone might look at me and ask, “What happened to you?” I’m anxious someone might remember that I owe them money. I’m anxious someone might ask, “Didn’t you date my wife?” Psychologist Joyce Brothers once wrote, “Ninety-nine and nine-tenths percent of people have some anxiety about going to a reunion. The rest are people who are so secure and have done so well they have no intention of going back.” I’ve done fairly well, but I’m going back. I haven’t been to one since the 35th year reunion. The anxiety of the reunion makes me extra glad that my heavenly reunion holds no such emotion. The Bible is clear that, “He who began a good work in you will complete it” (Phil. 1:6). Stay tuned for next week’s “Reunion Attended” report.
Join me in remembering the following global prayer requests:
• Missionary kids who are completing another year of school this month, some away from parents.
• Pray for seminars on Jewish evangelism that will take place in Russia on Wednesday. May 19th.
• Pray for Lew and Brandi as they begin French language school.
• Remember that the Day of Prayer and Fasting for World Evangelization is Sunday, May 23.
