Monday Morning Manna: Waiting
I’ve never been very good at waiting, especially when it is defined as, “The act of remaining inactive or stationary.” I never cared much for remaining inactive, and stationary is not a word friends have used to describe me. All things considered, when all things are ready and circumstances are right, I’m ready to act. Patience has never been one of my strong characteristics. However, one of the lessons I’m learning in my advanced years is how to wait. It’s not an easy lesson to learn in the midst of aging, when there is not much time left to wait on things, so I still get anxious and impatient. But I’m learning, especially when I read these words from C. S. Lewis: “God would not make us wait unless He thought there was something good for us in the waiting, and of course, there is Isaiah 40:31 that reminds of the reward for waiting: “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”
