Words Then and Now
Rain. Ice, Sleet. Snow. Homebound. These are words that describe my last few days. Add ”Record Low Temperature” and you get cancelled basketball games, cancelled church services, cancelled meetings, etc. You also get friends from the frozen north lands, from the “true north, strong and free” calling you a “Wimp” and other such names. But, save for a few years in the deep south of Geogia, where they boil their peanuts and Bar B.Q. the wrong animal, and sabbatical leaves spent in colder climes, In the words of John Baumann, “I’m Texas born, Texas bred. When I die, I’ll be Texas dead.” So, what does one do when facing these conditions? Read. Write. Watch TV. Work on sermons and teaching notes. Adjust prayer lists. Spend way too much time on social media. Catch up on sleep. And go back and review past Monday Morning Manna – like this post from almost a decade ago, entitled, “The Treasures of Snow and You” (from Job 38:22) – https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/monday-morning-manna-treasures-snow-you-dan-crawford/
