Hitting the Eighties and Moving On

My wife, Joanne, had a birthday yesterday.  While her exact  age is a forever secret, she is in the eighties.  It is not a lonesome age group. Here are a few others who have been there;

  • Canadian actor Christopher Plummer won an Oscar at the age of 82.
  • Star Trek’s Captain Kirk, actor William Shatner, became the first 90-year-old to go into space.
  • Madonna Buder completed an Ironman Triathlon at the age of 82.
  • The legendry artist, Pablo Picasso, produced 347 engravings in a single year at age 87,
  • Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush celebrated his 80th, 85th, and 90th birthdays by parachuting from an airplane.
  • The Psalmist (when he was obviously advanced in years) – O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, do not forsake me,  Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.

While she is not quite as well known as these, she is just as famous to those who know her.  The last few months have not been without medical challenges, but those who know her really well, know she is mighty tough and will overcome all these challenges as she moves on through the eighties. .
