The Fullness of Time and the Five-Minute Difference

My wife and I are alike in a lot of ways. I guess that explains sixty-two years of wedded bliss. But we also have our differences. I bust my you-know-what to be at least five minutes early for everything, whereas Joanne lives with the idea that nothing of significance happens in the first five minutes of anything. She was even five minutes late coming down the aisle at our wedding. In the years we’ve had together we have learned that everything that happens in God’s will happens in a “fullness of time.” (Galatians 4:4).  So, when this latest stretch of medical issues hit both of us, all we had to do was be sure we were in God’s will, to understand that these things – heart issues, falls, bone fractures, surgery, therapy, eye surgery,  eye injections, etc. – were within God’s will for us.  We understand that we are getting older and some of these things are happening naturally.  We also agree that when God is finished with us, we’re ready to join Him and our families in heaven. My grandparents, my parents, all my aunts and uncles, my only brother, and two of my five cousins are already there.  Joanne’s family is similar.  One of these days we’re going to have a big family reunion – in the fullness of time. And there won’t be any such thing as five minutes. Enjoy the minutes you have and be ready for the reunion.
